Published 11/26/2008
South Bend, Ind. (November 24, 2008) — Schafer Gear has announced three new appointments at the South Bend production facility. Becky Zumbrun has been promoted to the position of production supervisor and Michele Copper is moving up to the role of shipping and receiving supervisor. In addition, Clayton Steele has been appointed manufacturing engineer in the gear production area.
Zumbrun’s responsibilities include the direction and coordination of daily production department activities, processing materials flow and product quality. She also administers employee training and safety programs. An eight-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Zumbrun previously worked at Scott Brass in Mishawaka, Ind.
In her new role, Copper will be responsible for scheduling, recording and distributing all incoming and ongoing shipments at the gear production plant. Prior to assuming her current role, Copper was a driver for Schafer Gear.
Steele is a graduate of Purdue University where he majored in agricultural and biological engineering with a focus on machine systems design. He also worked at Schafer Gear during the past four years as an intern where he gained hands-on experience through his work with multiple production machines.
In making the announcements, Robert Doshi, operations manager, said these appointments were implemented to position the company for future growth. “Our projections for the upcoming years are very positive,” said Doshi. “These and other appointments we’ve made lately are enabling us to have the right team in place to serve the growing needs of our customers.”
